According to Customs statistics, Taiwan’s cold-rolled coil (CRC) imports totaled around 48,700 tons in August, surging by 101% compared to the previous month.

The significant increase was mainly due to a surge of 84% in China’s source, which totaled around 43,500 tons. South Korea ranked second with around 2,700 tons, followed by Japan’s 2,500 tons. Both countries also had a month-on-month growth.

In August, the average import price of CRC was higher than Taiwan’s market prices and China Steel Corporation (CSC)’s ex-factory price. For CRC with a thickness greater or equal to 0.5mm, China and South Korea’s average prices were similar to Taiwan’s market price, but China’s price alone was relatively competitive.
