According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 152.6 million tons in August this year, falling by 3.7% compared to the previous month and growing by 2.2% from the year-ago level.
Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 115.7 million tons, up by 3.5% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 86.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 9.1 million tons, falling by 4.4% year on year.
During the period, North American crude steel output was 9.2 million tons, down by 2.6% year on year; South American output was 3.4 million tons, falling by 8.1% year on year.
Crude steel production in Africa was up by 16.1% year on year to 1.5 million tons, and the output in the Middle East fell by 16% year on year to 1.8 million tons.
In the first eight months of this year, global crude steel production amounted to 1.25 billion tons, a slight year-on-year hike of 0.2%.
