According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 98,000 tons of cold-rolled flat-rolled products in August this year, falling by 15% compared to the previous month and by 31% from the same month a year earlier.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 44,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 12.4% and a year-on-year hike of 6.9%. Mexico ranked second with around 8,800 tons, followed by Australia’s 8,600 tons and Sweden’s 8,000 tons.

During the period, the import value totaled around US$114 million, down by 15.6% month on month and by 35.8% year on year.
