ArcelorMittal Poland is set to enhance its galvanizing plant in Krakow with an investment of approximately PLN 100 million, aiming to modernize operations and broaden its product spectrum. The initiative entails the incorporation of new coatings, including zinc, magnesium, and aluminum-based variants, with Optigal coating at the forefront. This innovative coating not only reduces zinc consumption but also boasts superior properties and heightened corrosion resistance.

Anticipating heightened demand across Poland, Central, and Eastern Europe, ArcelorMittal Poland is gearing up for a significant expansion. Plans include the introduction of magnesium electroplating with a thinner zinc and magnesium coating compared to current standards. Modernization efforts, including the upgrade of the cold rolling mill and the implementation of a two-bath system, are already underway. Commissioning of the Optigal-coated products facility is slated for 2025, with production expected to commence in 2026 following certification.
