Taiwan’s imports and exports of 300 series stainless steel hot-rolled coil dropped in July, with higher import and export prices. The import price has risen for five months in a row, which reached the NT$62,000/ton level, hitting an eight-month high, driven by increased prices of Indonesia Tsingshan. The price trend showed that the import costs of upstream steel mills were indeed increasing.

In July, Taiwan’s 300 series stainless steel hot-rolled coil imports slid by 18.9% month on month to around 58,300 tons, and exports plummeted by 62.5% month on month to 57 tons only, hitting a new low since November last year.

In terms of price, the import price in July hiked by nearly NT$600 in July compared to the previous month. The import price hit a new high since December 2023. The export price surged by nearly NT$27,000 month on month in July, hitting a new high since last November.
