According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports reached around 2.9 million tons in the first three quarters of this year, hiking by 10% compared to the year-ago period. The import value dropped by 7% year on year to US$1.6 billion.

Among them, the supply from China accounted for the largest share, totaling roughly 1.13 million tons, dropping by 18% from the corresponding period a year ago.

In September alone, Turkey imported around 369,000 tons of HRC, rising by 27% month on month and by 64% year on year. The value generated by these imports was approximately US$197 million, up by 29% from the preceding month and by 44% year on year.
