Japan issued an official announcement on August 7, 2026, to levy temporary anti-dumping (AD) duties on hot-dip galvanized steel strips and plates from China and South Korea, spanning four months from August 8 to December 7, 2026.

The measures apply to products under HS codes 7210.49, 7212.30, 7225.92, and 7226.99, while excluding corrugated sheets, alloyed hot-dip galvanized products, alloy tool steels, high-speed steels, and specific aluminum-magnesium or aluminum-magnesium-nickel coated products.

Under the new tariffs, specific Chinese manufacturers including Angang Steel, Wuhan Iron and Steel, Guanxian Chuangsheng New Materials, Tianjin Rolling-One Steel, Baoshan Iron and Steel, Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron and Steel, Bx Steel Posco Cold Rolled Sheet, Bengang Steel Plates, and Rare Earth Steel Plate face a duty rate of 50.1%, whereas all other Chinese producers are subject to 55.3%.

Additionally, a duty rate of 29.2% is set for South Korean Posco, 30.6% for SeAH Coated Metal and Dongkuk Coated Metal, and 38.0% for all other South Korean suppliers.
