According to American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) statistics, US domestic raw steel production reached 1.82 million tons for the week ending August 8, 2026, with a 78.8% capability utilization rate.
Output increased by 3.2% compared to 1.764 million tons and a 78.2% capability utilization rate recorded during the corresponding week in 2025. Production slid by 2.7% from the previous week ending August 1, 2026, which had 1.87 million tons at an 81.0% capability utilization rate.
Adjusted year-to-date output totaled 57.33 million tons with a capability utilization rate of 78.9% through August 8, 2026. This reflected a 5.7% rise from 52.248 million tons and a 77.0% capability utilization rate over the same period last year.
