China’s Shougang Jingtang achieves stable mass production of 0.07 mm ultra-thin steel
Shougang Jingtang has achieved stable mass production of ultra-thin steel with a thickness of just 0.07 mm, approximately the diameter of a human hair and even thinner than a sheet of A4 paper.
Known as “Cicada-Wing Steel” or “5G Steel,” the material combines extreme thinness with high toughness and can be used in applications including 5G communication components, integrated circuit substrates, precision electronic parts, new-energy battery connectors, and high-end packaging.
It’s an interesting example of how China’s steel industry is evolving beyond production volume toward high-precision and high-value-added materials.
