During the southern regional meeting, Taiwan’s steel plate manufacturers recommended that China Steel Corporation (CSC) adopt modest, gradual price increases for fourth-quarter pricing.

The regional convener said that third-quarter sales experienced disruptions from rainy seasons, prompting calls for price moderation. The general convener explained that although Taiwan's machinery sector shows export growth, domestic cutting businesses had limited benefits due to imported semi-finished components from China. Furthermore, while structural steel orders remain stable, declining real estate activity poses a medium-term demand risk.

The group leader reported that third-quarter steel plate production capacity reached full capacity with order backlogs extending into the fourth quarter.

During the meeting, CSC notified customers that the steel plate mill maintenance period will last 25 days, from December 28 to January 21, and recommended that customers prepare materials and place fourth-quarter orders early.
